Gandaki Chief Minister Krishnachandra Nepali Pokharel, who is on a three-day friendly visit to Madhes, has said that Mithila civilization and culture is unique and glorious.
Pokharel, who reached Bardibas in Mahottari on Sunday, the second day of his visit, said that Madhes is a center of religious tourism. Chief Minister Pokharel was participating in an introductory program with the Nepal Hotel Tourism Entrepreneurs Association, entrepreneurs of Bardibas and media persons.
"I took a closer look at the ancient Mithila religious site in Madhesh Pradesh," he said. "There is a lot of potential for religious tourism development here." After visiting Janaki Temple, Ram Temple, Manimandap, Janak Temple and Dhanushadham in Janakpurdham, Chief Minister Pokharel shared his pleasant experience of traveling by train from Janakpur to Kurtha on Saturday.
Although there is a tradition of hospitality in all parts of the world, Mithila is special, he said. "Railways is a dream in the minds of many Nepalis in recent times. Now I see the possibility of the general public getting this service soon," said Chief Minister Pokharel. He recalled that Madhes has a proud history of being the karma bhoomi of Bideharaj Janak, Yajnavalkya, scholars including Gargi and Tapobhoomi of Vidushi.
Chief Minister Pokharel arrived in Janakpur on Saturday at the invitation of the Madhesh state government, inaugurating the Pokhara-Janakpur flight. The Janakpur-Pokhara flight, which started on Saturday, will be operated by Buddha Air three days a week. He said that the development of religious tourism circuit and mutual harmony and coordination between Gandaki and Madhesh Pradesh were the main topics of discussion during his visit.
Chief Minister Pokharel is also scheduled to visit Shree Tuteshwarnath Mahadev Temple at Bardibas-5 and Gadhimai Temple in Bara today. Chief Minister Pokharel will return to Gandaki on Monday.
