The Pasang Lhamu Sherpa Foundation, which has been supporting the health and education of women and children in the highlands, has provided scholarships for higher education.

On the occasion of the 29th Memorial Day of late Pasang Lhamu, former Ambassador Dawa Futi Sherpa presented 'Tendi Sherpa Scholarship' to 10 students of Pasang Lhamu Memorial College. The foundation was established in 1993 in the memory of Pasang Lhamu Sherpa, the first Nepali woman to climb the highest peak, Mount Everest.

The Foundation has been providing capacity building, educational and health enhancement, promotion of mountain tourism and welfare assistance to mountaineers and their family members in the high mountainous and mountainous regions.

In the program, famous women in various fields stressed on the need to identify and develop their own potential. Former Ambassador Sherpa said that the program was important for the memory and contribution of Pasang Lhamu as well as for sharing the experiences of brave and capable women.

Pasang Lhamu Sherpa had successfully climbed Mt. Everest on April 22, 1993 AD. She died in an avalanche while returning from a climb. The government had declared her a national hero on April 23, 2002 AD. A postage stamp has also been issued in Pasang's memory.
