Dec 2 : Kedar Bashishtha’s research-based creation ‘Nepalology: Principles and Applications’ has been launched coinciding the occasion of Lumbini Kapilvastu Day.

Researcher’s mother Kedar Kumari Bhattarai and centenarian Satyamohan Joshi jointly launched the creation.

At a brief book launching programme, noted culture expert Joshi said the book (Nepal Vidhya) has potentials to offer encyclopedic knowledge about Nepal.

It may be noted that December 1 has been celebrated as the Lumbini Kapilvastu Day since 2009 recalling the rediscovery of Ashoka Pillar of Lumbini . Employee of the then British India government German national Dr Alois Anton Fuhrer and Nepal’s senior official Khadga Shumsher had rediscovered the pillar on 1 December 1896.

The 444-page book has attempted to establish theoretical base for Nepal Study (Vidhya) as a separate genre of study and research and reflected its two applications: political exploration of Lumbini and Kapilvastu and antique language exploration.

The book would be made available to all the universities of Nepal so as to promote it as a evidence-based resource for teaching and learning as well as for research/study as a new stream.

Researcher Bashishtha has opted to lay foundation of Nepal Study (Vidhya) citing the references of India study, China study, Tibet study, Egypt study, Armenia study and Japan study for development.
