As many as 50 employees of Bharat Biotech, an Indian COVID-19 manufacturing company, tested positive for the virus, a senior executive confirmed on Thursday.
Fifty employees of Bharat Biotech are off work due to COVID-19 infections, but the company will continue to work under pandemic lockdowns, tweeted Bharat Biotech's Joint Managing Director Suchitra Ella.
Bharat Biotech, based in India's southern state of Telangana, makes COVAXIN, one of the two vaccines developed in the country. The other vaccine COVISHIELD is made by the Serum Institute of India located in the southwestern state of Maharashtra.
Amid a shortage of vaccines in India recently, many vaccination centers have been shut in various parts of the country on Thursday, including Delhi, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra.
