India records 14,348 new COVID-19 cases on Friday

India's COVID-19 tally rose to 34,246,157 on Friday, as 14,348 new cases were registered during the past 24 hours across the country, showed the federal health ministry's latest data.

Besides, 805 deaths from the pandemic since Thursday morning took the total death toll to 457,191. The number of deaths per day have been rising over the past couple of days.

Most number of deaths, 708, were reported from the southern state of Kerala. "More than 70 percent cases (deaths) are due to comorbidities," said the data released by the federal health ministry.

There are still 161,334 active COVID-19 cases in the country with 345 more active cases recorded during the past 24 hours.

A total of 33,627,632 people have been successfully cured and discharged from hospitals so far, of whom 13,198 were discharged during the past 24 hours.
