Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has said there would not be a delay in the implementation of the Paris Agreement.

PM Dahal made this statement at a high-level talk on the issue of the mountains organised today by him on the sidelines of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28).

"According to the Paris Agreement, there is a delay in the implementation of the commitment to limit the temperature of the earth to 1.5 degrees Celsius, and this will also have a big impact on the mountains, and a crisis has already taken place," said the PM.

The loss and damage fund to be established from this conference should be equitable, and the process should be easy and transparent, and countries like Nepal should be able to benefit, he stressed.

"This subject is a matter of our justice and right," PM Dahal said while stressing the need for collective efforts to address the issue.

On the occasion, saying that it would cause irreparable damage if there was any delay in addressing the issue of the mountains, the United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres stressed the need for the responsible countries and sectors to address the issue as soon as possible. "I myself have witnessed the impacts of climate change in the Himalaya. There is already a delay. All should come together to address it."

Other participants including Prime Minister of Andorra, Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, head of the delegation of Bhutan, high-ranking officials of various agencies, and scientists among others called for the implementation of the Paris Agreement. The COP28 that kicked off on November 30 in UAE will run till December 12.
