Minister for Home Affairs Bal Krishna Khand has said that the government is serious about preventing violence against women and children.

"The government's first priority is to save the lives of its citizens. The state provides security for people to live freely," Minister Khand said while receiving a memorandum submitted by the Inter-Party Women's Alliance at the Home Ministry.

The memorandum has drawn the attention of the government to 'increasing' incidents of violence against women and children in the country. Stating that incidents of violence against women and children were increasing lately, the Alliance Chairperson Kalyani Rijal demanded with the minister that such incidents be investigated, the victims get 'decent' compensations and perpetrators be booked.

Such incidents have increased during the lockdown and prohibitory order imposed to stop the spread of COVID-19 infection said the Alliance.
