A woman and her seven-year-old grandson were killed in a road accident that took place in Bhesakhori of Gaindakot municipality-10 last night. The deceased have been identified as Srimaya Manandhar,55, and her grandson Bishal Shrestha of the same locality.
Bishal died on the spot while his grandmother Srimaya succumbed to her injuries at the local hospital. They were hit by a passenger bus (Na. Kha. 2525) on the East-West highway, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Nawalparasi, Bed Bahadur Poudel.
The bus has been impounded and its driver taken into police custody.
Two people have died in a road accident that took place in Mechinagar of Jhapa on Wednesday night. The accident reportedly took place when the scooter hit a stationary jeep on the Mechi Lokmarg in Dhaijan, Mechinagar Municipality-12.
The scooter (Me. 7 Pa. 7283) was going from Charali towards Budhabare when it hit the jeep (Ko 1 Ha. 7264) that had been stopped on the left side of the road for maintenance.
The deceased have been identified as the scooter rider 25-year-old Leela Prasad Dhungel of Buddhashanti-5, and pillion rider Chetan Rijal, 29, Rong Rural Municipality-5 of Ilam, according to District Police Office Jhapa spokesperson, DSP Krishna Kumar Chand.
Two people have died in a road accident that took place at Barhabise in Sindhupalchok today.
The deceased have been identified as Dilkumari Pradhan and Lal Kumari Pradhan of Barhabise Municipality-7. They died on the spot, said Devendra Joshi, Head of Barhabise Police Office. The accident involving a jeep (Ba. 12 Cha. 4991) en route from Nagpuje towards Barhabise took place after it fell into the Andheri river about 70 meters below the road.
Gopal Thapa, Khadgkumari Shrestha and Pushkar Thapa of Barhabise-7 along with Jeep driver Bikram Thapa were injured in the accident. The injured are undergoing treatment at various hospitals, police said.
Two persons traveling on a motorcycle were killed when a bus hit the bike at Boharetar of Sunkoshi rural municipality-3 this morning. The bus with registration number Bagmati Province 01-006 Kha 4593 was heading towards Kathmandu from Manthali of Ramechhap at the time of the accident. One of the persons on the motorcycle died on the spot while the next one died on the way to the hospital.
The Purba Araniko Yatayat Sewa Samiti bus knocked the motorcycle (Ba 60 Pa 3545) from the opposite direction. Eighteen-year-old Munakala Rai of Diktel municipality-10, Khotang district who was pillion riding on the bike died on the spot. In contrast, Kumar Rai of Tuwachung municipality-2, Khotang, who was driving the bike, died on the way to the local Khalte Hospital, said Chandra Shrestha, the Ward Chair of Sunkoshi rural municipality-3.
Police have taken the bus driver, Rupesh Adhikari, 24, of Phulasi, Manthali municipality-13, under control and initiated a necessary investigation, the District Police Office, Sindhuli said.
Two youths have died in a road accident that took place in Rupa rural municipality of Kaski district. The deceased have been identified as Krishna Gurung,29, and Ashok Gurung,24, of Dudhpokhari Rural Municipality-6, Lamjung.
They died when a motorcycle that they were riding on their way to Rupatal from Pokhara Metropolitan City-32 met with an accident and fell around 90 meters below the road on Saturday evening, District Police Office Kaski said.
After the accident, the injured were rescued by the police and taken to the Western Regional Hospital for treatment. The doctor declared both of them dead upon arrival.
Meanwhile, the police are investigating the cause of the fatal accident.

Two people died on the spot when a jeep (Ga 1 Ja 1897) heading towards Rimna from Radi met with an accident near Chisapani in Athabiskot Municipality-11 Rukum west.
The deceased have been identified as Dulika Kaviram BK of Banfikot Rural Municipality-8 and Kamal Khadka of Musikot Municipality-11, according to the Area Police Office, Athabiskot. They were reportedly the driver of the jeep and his helper, who were the only occupants of the jeep. The jeep fell into the Bheri River after the driver lost control, police said.
Two people have been killed in a road accident in Rukum East. The accident took place on Friday evening at Dading in Sisne Rural Municipality-4 of the district.
According to the District Police Office, Rukum East, two persons on a tractor (Ra 1 Ta 1616) heading towards Dading died. The deceased have been identified as Akash Budha, 15, of Sisne-4 Dading and Nandi Budha, 50, of the same place, said Krishna Khatri, Inspector and Information Officer at the Office.
Two others were injured and they are undergoing treatment at Rukum East Hospital, said Inspector Khatri.
The tractor driver is absconding.
Two people have been killed in a road accident in the Dang district. A motorcycle (Ra 1 Pa 8386) heading towards Narayanpur from Ghorahi-9 Katuki has met with an accident at Ghorahi-8.
Pramila Hamal, 34, of Ghorahi-17 Gulariya died at the Rapti Institute of Health Sciences last night. The deceased have been identified as Rohit, 19, and his daughter Savina, 16. Both are undergoing treatment at the Rapti Institute of Health Sciences.
Similarly, Yogesh Basnet, 8, of Tulsipur-17 died when a truck with UP 42 VP 2401 Indian number plate hit him on the Ghorahi-Tulsipur road section. According to the District Traffic Police Office, he succumbed to his injuries while being taken to Lucknow, India for treatment. The truck driver is under police control.
Two persons were killed and one other was injured when a Dhorpatan-bound taxi (Dha 1 Ja 528) met with an accident at Pyangkhola in Dhorpatan Municipality-5 in Baglung district on Tuesday evening.
The deceased have been identified as the taxi driver Dhal Bahadur Thapa and Jok Bahadur BK of Dhorpatan Municipality-5. The cause of the accident is yet to be known. The injured—Ratikala BK is being treated at a local health post, said the police.
