A woman from Machhapuchhre rural municipality-1 in Kaski died when a flood-fed rivulet swept her away. Ward Chairperson Birendra Gurung informed that the Khahare rivulet swept away 40-year-old Leeladevi Pariyar of Tuse at around 8.30 pm last night.

Locals and police found her body some 25 meters away from the incident site. A police team from Ghachowk had recovered the body from the rivulet and affidavit related work of the incident is to be undertaken today, said Spokesperson of the District Police Office and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Subas Hamal.

Police said investigation is being undertaken into the incident. The water level has soared in the rivers and rivulets of the district due to incessant rainfall since a couple of days. Rural roads have been disrupted due to landslide triggered by torrential rain.

Issuing a notice on Tuesday evening, the District Administration Office cautioned people of flood, inundation and landslides in vulnerable areas due to rising levels in Seti, Mardi, Madi, Sardi, Bijayapur and Harpan of the district.

The DAO also urged the public to inform the administration in case of high risk or tragic incidents in any natural disaster.
