The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Friday reported 179 new cases of coronavirus infection in Nepal. The addition of new cases has taken the country's COVID-19 tally to 277,640.
Likewise, the three districts of Kathmandu valley has reported 86 new cases of coronavirus infection — 73 in Kathmandu, eight in Lalitpur and five in Bhaktapur — in the last 24 hours. A total of 47 males and 39 females have been reported to be detected with the coronavirus infection in the valley.
As many as 111 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. With this, a total of 272,962 persons infected with coronavirus in the country have recovered as of Friday. At present, the recovery rate stands at 98.3 per cent as per the data released by the MoHP.
The nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has remained 3,031 with no death reported in the past 24 hours. Presently, there are 1,647 active cases in Nepal.
Earlier, the MoHP on Thursday had reported 152 new cases of coronavirus that had taken nationwide tally to 277,461.
More than 129.59 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 2,954,205 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, a Reuters tally showed as of 3:46 pm on Friday, April 2, 2021.
The World Health Organisation referred to it as a pandemic on March 11, 2020.
