The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Friday reported 5,657 new cases of coronavirus infection in Nepal. The addition of new cases has taken the country's COVID-19 tally to 317,530. Additionally, 70 persons have tested positive for the virus in the Antigen test conducted in the past 24 hours.
Likewise, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have reported 2,956 new cases of coronavirus infection — 2,404 in Kathmandu, 419 in Lalitpur and 133 in Bhaktapur — in the past 24 hours.
As many as 928 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. With this, a total of 281,095 persons infected with coronavirus in the country have recovered as of Friday. At present, the recovery rate stands at 86.9 per cent as per the data released by the MoHP.
The nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 3,279 with the report of 33 more deaths from COVID-19 of which 28 persons died in the past 24 hours. Presently, there are 38,813 active cases in Nepal.
Earlier, the MoHP on Thursday had reported 4,774 cases of coronavirus that had taken the nationwide tally to 317,530.
As of Friday, a total of 2,473,956 persons have undergone the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 38,813 persons staying in isolation while 55 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.
More than 150.57 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 3,305,703 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, a Reuters tally showed as of 4:07 pm, on Friday, April 30, 2021.
The World Health Organisation referred to it as a pandemic on March 11, 2020.
