Altogether 56 new cases of Leprosy have been reported in the district in the past six months. The data was shared at a function organised to mark the 68th World Leprosy Day here Friday.
Among the 56, the highest number of cases was detected in Bharatpur metropolitan city, according to the chief of Health Office, Chitwan, Dipak Tiwari. Only Icchyakamana rural municipality did not report any case of leprosy in the six months of the current fiscal year.
This takes the total number of Leprosy cases to 116 in the district. They are now under regular medication. The patients need to take the medicine regularly for one year to get rid of the infection.
In the last fiscal year, 60 new cases were reported in the district. The average reported cases currently in one in ten thousand population.
