The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Wednesday reported 580 new cases of coronavirus infection in Nepal. The addition of new cases has taken the country's COVID-19 tally to 281,564.
Likewise, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have reported 254 new cases of coronavirus infection — 173 in Kathmandu, 61 in Lalitpur and 20 in Bhaktapur — in the last 24 hours.
As many as 129 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. With this, a total of 274,447 persons infected with coronavirus in the country have recovered as of Wednesday. At present, the recovery rate stands at 97.5 per cent as per the data released by the MoHP.
The nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 3,061 with the report of three more deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. Presently, there are 4,056 active cases in Nepal.
Earlier, the MoHP on Tuesday had reported 460 new cases of coronavirus that had taken the nationwide tally to 280,984.
As of Wednesday, a total of 2,325,959 persons have undergone the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 4,056 persons staying in isolation while 79 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.
More than 137.45 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 3,098,177 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, a tally showed as of 5:08 pm, on Wednesday, April 14, 2021.
The World Health Organisation referred to it as a pandemic on March 11, 2020.
