The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Friday reported 836 new cases of coronavirus infection in Nepal. The addition of new cases has taken the country's COVID-19 tally to 282, 890.
Likewise, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have reported 348 new cases of coronavirus infection — 286 in Kathmandu, 43 in Lalitpur and 19 in Bhaktapur — in the last 24 hours. A total of 222 males and 126 females have been reported to have contracted the coronavirus in the past 24 hours.
As many as 208 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. With this, a total of 274,812 persons infected with coronavirus in the country have recovered as of Friday. At present, the recovery rate stands at 97.1 per cent as per the data released by the MoHP.
The nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 3,070 with the report of two deaths from COVID-19 that occurred in the past 24 hours and two others earlier. Presently, there are 5,008 active cases in Nepal.
Earlier, the MoHP on Thursday had reported 490 cases of coronavirus that had taken the nationwide tally to 282,054.
As of Friday, a total of 2,335,084 persons have undergone the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 5,008 persons staying in isolation while 77 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.
More than 139.11 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 3,125,797 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, a tally showed as of 3:33 pm, on Friday, April 16, 2021.
The World Health Organisation referred to it as a pandemic on March 11, 2020.
