Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has urged all authorities concerned to work in a coordinated manner to prevent any further damage caused by floods and landslides in the country.
Speaking at a meeting of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council today, he also directed the concerned agencies to immediately manage food, clothing, medicines, water and other essentials in the areas affected by the monsoon-induced disaster.
He said the government had prepared by estimating the possible risk and is now working as per the plans. At the meeting held at the Prime Minister's residence, Baluwatar, Prime Minister Oli directed to give special attention to people with disabilities, senior citizens, children and women in the rescue and relief efforts. Also, attention needs to be paid to the risk of COVID-19 infection while shifting the affected population to safer locations.
The Prime Minister also stressed effective monitoring to prevent irregularities in the relief distribution. Talk to the joint border teams considering the possibility of inundation and waterlogging in the plains and stopping construction of roads or use of dozers in the hilly areas, he added.
