Defence Minister Minendra Prasad Rijal has directed service-providing offices to pay special attention to the needs of service seekers.

Addressing a gathering at the Morang District Administration Office (DAO) this morning, he instructed for apprising issues capable to be addressed locally to the Chief District Officer and send it to the Centre in writing if requiring the intervention from there.

On the occasion, Chief District Officer Kashiraj Dahal said the current atmosphere of Morang has no security threat, but again special arrangements were in place to deal with untoward incidents. A total of 1,600 police personnel have been mobilised for the security, added Dahal.

Trans-border movement along the Nepal-India border has increased in the festival time and antigen screening tests have been ensured at the entry point for those Nepali migrant workers returning from the southern neighbor, according to him.

As he said, the district faces no issues in the supplies system and the availability of sugar less than Rs 30 per kilo in the Indian market has attracted Nepali consumers there. Likewise, the DAO’s focus has been centered on the prevention of trans-border drug smuggling, human trafficking, and other trans-border crimes along the 63-kilometer bordering area towards India from the district.

As he informed the Minister, schools have been opened by following recommended health protocols. He also drew the attention of the Minister towards guaranteeing provisions of COVID-19 vaccine for people under 18.

Superintendent of Police Janardan GC, Armed Police Force SP Tirtha Raj Poudel, District Health Office Chief Dr Suresh Mehata, and Koshi Hospital Biratnagar Chief Chumanlal Das briefed the Minister about problems they are facing in the respective areas.
