Development expert Thapa wins ‘Famous Participatory Development Award, 2022’

Development expert Prof Nar Bikram Thapa has bagged the ‘famous participatory development writing award, 2022’.

He has been honoured for writing in the field of the system, technology, and various areas to implement Poverty Alleviation and Participatory Development, it has been said.

The award will be distributed amid a function to be organised on September 4 on the occasion of the 27th annual general assembly of the Nepal Participatory Action Network (NEPAN), said NEPAN Chairperson Jhabindra Bhandari.

Set up in 2074 BS in memory of late Prasiddha Kandel, son of outgoing NEPAN Chairperson Chetnath Kandel, the award has been given to a development scholar since 2075. The award carries a purse of Rs 10,000.

Earlier, three persons—associate lecturer Gambhir Bahadur Hada; conflict expert Bishnu Raj Upreti and, Man Bahadur BK have won the award.

He has authored over a dozen books including ‘Poverty Alleviation’, ‘Participatory Disaster Management’, ‘Food Security and Eco-politics’, ‘Sustainable Livelihood and Biodiversity and ‘Monitoring and Evaluation Methods’.
