Former President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has stressed the need for educating women reasoning that it creates educated society.
He stated that lack of development in the society is a result of educational deprivation of women from Madhes, Dalit, indigenous and Muslim communities. The former President said, "Women from these communities are still out of education. A prosperous society will be created and corruption will be controlled once they have access to education."
He was addressing the second anniversary of Maiyadevi Kanya College, Bharatpur here on Friday.
Similarly, former Chief of Bagmati Province Anuradha Koirala underscored the need for women-centred education at school level.
On the occasion, a bust of college's patron Maiya Devi Shrestha and a statue of Goddess Saraswati was unveiled.
