Hindu followers are celebrating father's day (the day to see father's face) today across the nation. On this day, children show their respect by giving their favorite sweets and food to their father. This is why today is called the day of 'seeing father's face' and father's day.
Nowadays, those who do not have a father go to the Gokarneshwar Uttar Gaya Pitru Tirtha at the confluence of Bagmati, Chandramati and Suryamati rivers in the northeast of Kathmandu and perform rites in the name of their father and also donate. These rites are performed today in Betrawati, Rasuwa as well.
A fair has started in Gokarneshwar, Kathmandu. It is believed that you will have happiness and prosperity if you make your father happy on this day. Therefore, children visit their living father today and those who don't have living father perform rituals.
