The family and relatives of Bhagarathi Bhatta (17) of Dogadakedar Rural Municipality-7 in Baitadi district, received her body today.
Bhatta was found dead in Lawalek forest on February 4. The postmortem report showed that she was raped and murdered.
The family members received the body of Bhatta on the 17th day after her body was found. Her final rites were performed at Mahakali Aryaghat at Dasharathchand Municipality-6 today itself, said the victim's uncle, Shivaraj Bhatta.
Family members, relatives, well-wishers, people's representatives and representatives of political parties were present in the funeral procession.
Previously, the relatives of Bhatta had refused to receive the body, demanding the arrest of those involved in the heinous crime. Police on Wednesday made public Dinesh Bhatta of Chadepani, establishing his involvement in the incident.
Earlier, Dinesh had been refusing to say he raped the girl. He, however, on Wednesday in presence of his father confessed that he raped and murdered Bhatta.
After the confession of Dinesh, the victim's relatives received the body.
