Former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has expressed his dissatisfaction over the Supreme Court's verdict.

The day after the Supreme Court ordered to reinstate the House of Representatives and appoint Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba as prime minister, Oli criticised the apex court's decision. During his address to the nation today, the outgoing prime minister claimed that the court had in essence amended the constitution.

The court's decision has caused an imbalance among the legislature, executive, and judiciary, he stated. He argued that the court's decision might bring a sense of victory to some, but the victory at the expense of democracy was meaningless.

He also slammed the court's decision which states that the party whip cannot be applied when electing a prime minister as per Article 76 (5) of the constitution.

Oli opined that the multi-party system had been challenged by the court's interpretation that those who get elected by people on the basis of a party's election symbol and manifesto can support and vote for anyone during the formation of a government and that the party whip is not applicable in such cases. He claimed that the misinterpretation of the article had somehow amended the constitution.

Former PM Oli, during his address to the nation, said that although he had been appointed prime minister by the people, he has now been removed by the Supreme Court's order. He claimed that the people's mandate was on his side while the court's order was in favour of Sher Bahadur Deuba.
