The Ministry of Health and Population has directed the hospitals to make their price list public within seven days. The ministry has asked the hospitals and health centres to upload the types of services being provided and the cost of such services in their websites. Such information must also be placed in the respective institution’s notice board.
The Health Ministry has asked all government, private, community and cooperative health institutions to mandatorily make public the types of services being offered and their cost within seven days.
The Ministry of Health and Population has mentioned that this new directive has been issued to control the irregularities taking place during this crisis brought about by the coronavirus. It mentioned that the ministry has been flooded with complaints of patients being overcharged under different pretexts.
The ministry also mentioned that it had come to its notice that patients were being made to undergo different unnecessary health tests and at times the attendants were being asked by the health institutions to go and search for oxygen cylinders. Some health centres were also making patients purchase unnecessary medicines and medical equipment, the ministry added.
The Health Ministry added that such complaints had been lodged a the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers and at Hello Sarkar.
