Human Rights and Peace Society (HURPES) has condemned the military coup in Myanmar.

The move of seizing power and detention of Aung San Suu Kyi and other democratically elected leaders was objectionable, the Society said.

The Society has urged to release imprisoned democratic leaders and other supporters. It has further appealed to restore democratic process in the country.

Meanwhile, the Society has stated that the dissolution of House of Representatives (HoR) was against democracy. The society is organizing various interactions against the parliament dissolution move.
