Jiban Tamang, 32, a resident of Thatikuna, Balefi-1 in Sindhupalchok was arrested by the police on Tuesday afternoon on the charge of assaulting and killing his wife Laxmi Basnet Tamang, 28.
He was arrested by the Area Police Office, Jalbire after receiving information that Jiban had seriously injured his wife when he attacked her with an axe due to a dispute over firewood. Laxmi succumbed to her injuries at the District Hospital, Chautara.
The police are conducting a further necessary investigation in this regard.
