The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Thursday confirmed the detection of 10,052 new cases of coronavirus infection. With this, the COVID count has reached 887,769. Additionally, 2,286 persons have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in the antigen test.
Likewise, the MoHP has recorded four deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. The ministry on May 19 recorded 184 deaths, the highest daily number. As of Saturday, the nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 11,632. Presently, there are 57,328 active cases in Nepal.
Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley alone have recorded 6,981 cases in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu logged 5,001 cases, Lalitpur logged 1,130 cases and Bhaktapur logged 850 cases, as per the data released by the MoHP.
As many as 649 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. As of Thursday, a total of 818,809 people have recovered from the viral disease, the data released by the MoHP showed. Presently, the recovery rate stands at 92.2 per cent while the fatality rate is 1.4 per cent.
Earlier, the MoHP on Wednesday confirmed the detection of 9,502 new cases of coronavirus infection.
As of Thursday, a total of 5,075,205 people have undergone the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 57,328 people staying in isolation while 125 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.
