Nepali Congress (NC) central member Gyanendra Bahadur Karki said there was no alternative to NC to steer the country to stability and development.
Accusing the communist government with an almost two-thirds majority in the parliament of being failure to address the aspiration of the country and the people, he said the NC should take initiative to safeguard the constitution and democracy.
At an interaction organised by NC Taplejung on Sunday, he termed the incumbent government as the corrupt and incompetent in history.
The recent political development is a big threat to the constitution and democracy in Nepal, he argued, adding NC was cautiously moving to that end.
The responsibility has come to the NC to protect the country from crisis, he said, adding the party has taken a proactive role to form the government on its own leadership or enable the environment to go for a fresh mandate.
