Vaccination campaign: Over 28,000 people vaccinated against COVID-19 in Nepal

As many as 28,732 people have been administered the 'Covishield' vaccine by the second day of the vaccination drive in Nepal.

According to Spokesperson Dr Jageshwor Gautam at the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), the vaccines have been administered in all 77 districts of seven provinces.

The dosage of vaccine for each individual is 0.5 millilitre which has two courses. The second course has to be administered within four weeks of the first dose.

As per the press statement issued by the MoHP, a total of 3,847 vaccines were administered in Province 1; 2,174 in Province 2; 11,461 in Bagmati province; 4,853 in Gandaki; 2,303 in Lumbini; 1,677 in Karnali and 2,417 in Sudurpaschim.

Dr Gautam said no health issues have been reported from those who received vaccines. The vaccines have been administered on a priority basis. The frontline health workers, ambulance and hearse drivers among other utility staffers have been prioritised for the vaccine for the first phase.

The Ministry has instructed the Vaccine Coordination, Monitoring and Management Centre for streamline vaccination drive, said Gautam.

The senior citizens in various elderly homes, inmates and security workers have been prioritised the next.

The 'Covishield' was brought to Nepal in 1 million doses in aid by the government of India. The vaccination is being conducted through 62 Hospitals in all seven provinces and 300 vaccination centres across 77 districts.
