Province Assembly member post of Jhapat Bahadur Bohara has fallen vacant.

In a meeting held on Monday, Speaker Arjun Bahadur Thapa shared that the post of province assembly fell vacant as per Article 180 of the Constitution of Nepal and Political Party related Act and Sudurpaschim Province Assembly Regulations-2074 BS. He has joined the CPN-UML from CPN (Maoist Centre).

Elected as the province assembly member from constituency 1 (B) of Achham district from CPN (Maoist Centre), Bohara has recently joined the CPN (UML) following a split between the two parties under unification.

The CPN (Maoist Centre) had registered the notice related to the defection of the party by Bohara at the province Assembly Secretariat on April 16. Bohara was Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning of the Sudurpaschim Province government.

The CPN (Maoist Centre) had decided to expel Bohara even from the party's general membership. With this, the provincial assembly has been limited to 52 members.
