Villagers united for the development of community schools

Locals have rallied for the upgradation and development of Saraswati Basic School in Bagarphant, Beni Municipality-2 of Myagdi.

 The school was established in 2042 BS for the development and upliftment of the people of Bagarphant living abroad. The school has stated that 102 students are studying in this school which has been teaching till class 7. Teacher Ghandevi Gharti informed that the campaign has been intensified by forming a 51-member committee for raising the level of education and collecting financial support under the coordination of Krishna Bahadur Thapa, former Campus Chief of Myagdi Multipurpose Campus.

According to Krishna Bahadur Thapa, coordinator of the campaign, a fundraising campaign has been launched for the upliftment and educational development of the school from the alumni, well-wishers and teachers, staff, parents and locals of the school.

Padyam Ghimire, a local youth and alumnus of the school, said that a campaign has been launched to make the school of his village a model school for the people of Bagarphant.

Sandesh Karki, who is currently in the United States, and Bhai Kumar Karki from Portugal have donated Rs. 150,000 to the Krishna Karki Memorial Retirement Fund in memory of their late father Krishna Bahadur Karki. Karki has announced to increase the amount in the fund to Rs. 1 million.

Similarly, locals and social worker Min Bahadur Karki provided Rs. 55,555, Krishna Bahadur Thapa Rs. 51,111, Chitra Bahadur Rijal Rs. 51,105, Chandra Bahadur Ghimire Rs. 51,100 and school principal Chhem Bahadur Pun Rs. 40,105.

Similarly, more than Rs. 3 million has been collected from school teachers, staff, parents and various local organizations in a period of ten days. From the collected funds, along with the physical development of the school, English medium education will be conducted, child friendly kindergarten will be conducted, classes will be conducted up to secondary level, well-equipped dormitory will be arranged, educational work will be conducted, practical teaching will be conducted and quality education will be provided. Engineer Padam Ghimire informed that the aim is to provide a well-equipped dormitory.

Similarly, Rs. 15 lakh 83 thousand 720 is required annually for the four private resource teachers teaching in the school and a total of Rs. 19 lakh 96 thousand and 720 says coordinator of the campaign Thapa

 At present, the internal income of the school is only Rs. 26,000 per annum
