A writ petition has been filed at the Supreme Court seeking the cancellation of 20 appointments to the constitutional bodies. President Bidhya Devi Bhandari had made those appointments to the constitutional bodies on June 24.
The writ against the appointments was filed by senior advocate Dinesh Tripathi.
Tripathi has sought the cancellation of those appointments in his writ petition citing that the recommendations that have been made for the constitutional bodies need to be first discussed at the House of Representatives before the appointments are finalised.
He has also asked the Supreme Court to issue an interim order directing the appointments to be put on hold until a final verdict on the case issued by the court.
The Constitutional Council had recommended the names of candidates to be appointed to the various constitutional bodies in Nepal including the chairperson of the Public Service Commission on May 9.
