CPN-UML chair and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has suspended two other leaders — Ghanashayam Bhusal and Surendra Pandey — from the party for the next six months.
The party's chief whip Bishal Bhattarai informed that Oli suspended the two leaders after the clarifications submitted by them were not satisfactory. The CPN-UML chair has already suspended two other senior leaders — Madhav Kumar Nepal and Bhim Bahadur Rawal from the party for the next six months.
The CPN-UML on March 22 had sought clarification from four of the members — Madhav Kumar Nepal, Bhim Rawal, Ghanashayam Bhusal and Surendra Prasad Pandey. The leaders were accused of working against the party.
The Supreme Court on March 7 ordered to restore the CPN-UML and the CPN Maoist Centre. Both the parties had unified to form Nepal Communist Party (NCP).
Meanwhile, chairperson of CPN Maoist Centre, Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Tuesday filed an application at the Supreme Court for the review of its verdict that annulled the Nepal Communist Party (NCP).
The rift within the NCP widened as the faction led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Madhav Kumar Nepal prepared to remove party chair Oli. On the other hand, the then NCP chair was dissatisfied with the dissident faction saying that they (Dahal-Nepal faction) had been preventing the government to work in a full-fledged manner.
Meanwhile, with the suspension of the senior leaders, the ruling party is expected to be heading towards a split.
