Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said he will not be attending a meeting of the Constitutional Council as the leader of the main opposition party.

Issuing a press statement today, the main opposition leader and former Prime Minister has accused that the government promulgated the ordinance relating to the Constitutional Council by going against the spirit of the constitution and the move was capable of destroying the constitutional structures.

As leader Deuba claimed, the government’s move was not in compliance with the parliamentary norms and it was an attack on democratic practices and culture as well. He has commented that the ordinances were introduced time and again in a way to dislodge the constitutional structures by suppressing its fundamental and inalienable rights to make and amend the laws.
