The Election Commission is to today inform the political parties about the progress made so far in the local level election to be held on April 12. Commission spokesperson Shaligram Sharma Poudel informed that representatives of 17 political parties representing the federal, state and local levels have been invited for the discussion tomorrow at 11:30 am.
"It has been almost a month since the announcement of the election. The objective is to inform the activities of the commission during this period, discuss and interact with the commission on the issues expected by the parties and get opinions and suggestions," he said.
The commission has requested each political party to send two representatives including a leader. Eighty political parties have applied for registration with the commission for the upcoming local elections.
In the local level election in 2018, only 57 out of 80 parties applied for party registration. Of those who participated in the election, 18 were represented at the local level.
