The post of Krishna Thapa, a lawmaker representing Rastriya Janamorcha in the Gandaki Province Assembly, has fallen vacant with effect from today.
In today’s meeting of the Gandaki Province Assembly, Speaker Netra Nath Adhikari informed the Province Assembly about the vacant post of Thapa based on the letters received from Rastriya Janamorcha Central Office and Gandaki Province Parliamentary Party of Rastriya Janamorcha.
Thapa was elected from Baglung-1 (B) representing the Rastriya Janamorcha party.
Speaker Adhikari said that Thapa was removed from the post of Province Assembly Member as per the Constitution of Nepal, Political Party Act 2073 and Gandaki Province’s Province Assembly Regulations, 2074.
Lawmaker Thapa had disobeyed the party’s call to side with the opposition political parties including Nepali Congress (NC) in forming the new government in Gandaki Province. The Rastriya Janamorcha Party removed Thapa on the same ground stating that the party’s lawmaker acted against the party decision.
Meanwhile, Thapa said that he could not stand against the people’s mandate.
He said it was a mockery of history to get scrapped of his Province Assembly membership for not supporting to form the NC-led government.
