The main opposition Nepali Congress has urged the Election Commission to take action against those making publicity of the candidates during the silence period under the by-elections to the National Assembly.
The meeting of the NC Parliamentary Party on Wednesday took a decision to this effect. Voting in the by-elections is ongoing.
The silence period is 48 hours before voting and it prohibits the publicity related to elections on any platform during the time, according to the Election Code of Conduct. The NC has accused Prime Minister and minister Krishna Gopal Shrestha of breaching the laws by asking for a vote for a particular candidate.
