Standing Committee meeting of the Khanal-Nepal faction of CPN-UML led by senior leaders Jhalanath Khanal and Madhav Kumar Nepal, is underway in Kathmandu.
A member of the Standing Committee informed that the meeting has been discussing the contemporary political issues and the party's action plan.
It has been learnt that the Khanal-Nepal faction has been planning to reorganise the party as the party chairperson and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has suspended four of the leaders including Nepal, Bhim Bahadur Rawal, Ghanashyam Bhusal and Surendra Pandey from the party for six months.
Meanwhile, the discussion is underway to separately form a new organisational structure from ward level to provincial level in the first phase. The faction has also decided to launch a politico-ideological campaign by preparing a document including the 17-point proposal which the faction had issued during the national cadres' meet on March 17 and 18, and clarification sought from CPN-UML Chair Oli.
