CPN (UML) spokesperson Pradeep Kumar Gyawali has said the forthcoming 10th National General Congress would be characterized by unity in terms of policy, psychology and leadership.
He said this while addressing a programme titled 'Ideology and Leadership in General Congress' organized by Press Chautari Nepal, Valley Province Committee here today. Spokesperson Gyawali said since the general convention has been held regarding the policy, the forthcoming general congress would be of unity in terms of policy, psychology and leadership.
The main opposition party, CPN (UML), is organizing its 10th General Congress from November 26-28 in Chitwan.
Leader Gyawali claimed that the Statute General Convention has made the party united at the policy level. "Unity of policy is the party unity as we are already united in policy. So, the General Congress is also going to be one of unity."
Stating that since the party's policy would have lasting influence on the country's democracy and its future, all have keen interest on the party's policy, he said," But we have already made public our principles, jurisdiction and policy through the Statute Convention that we held two months back. We have passed the documents regarding the present priorities. Therefore, the forthcoming General Congress would be one of unity and new resolve."
The party spokesperson said that 'all the party colleagues' could not be included among the 15 office-bearers and 225 central members. So, we will elect the leadership on the basis of consensus as far as possible. If it is not possible this way, then the leadership will be elected through healthy and personal competition. There is not going to be amendment in the party's Statute for now.
He said it was not justified to establish and inaugurate television channel with foreign investment when foreign investment in media has been banned.
UML central member and Party Publicity Department deputy chief, Surya Thapa said the General Congress related publicity has been intensified. He said arrangements have been made for live broadcasting of the inauguration ceremony of the Congress in the country and abroad as well.
According to him, all the media would be provided signal for live coverage of the inauguration ceremony from the bank of the Narayani River.
Press Chautari Nepal central president Ganesh Basnet, former president Rajendra Aryal, former general secretary Pramod Dahal, vice-president Ganesh Pandey, Valley In-charge Prakash Silwal, Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) central member KC Lamichhane among other Chautari's office-bearers were present in the programme presided over by Chautari's Valley president Hemraj Silwal.
