Nepal Telecom (NT) has clarified that the data stored in its server has not been stolen through any attack by any hacker or such groups. The telecom company has issued a statement mentioning that media reports that had been published stating that the data in the Nepal Telecom server had been stolen and put for sale are not true.
The company has said that after various media houses published news on July 11 mentioning that data had been stolen from NT’s server it took the reports seriously and shut down the facility that it had doubts about and conducted a thorough investigation. Spokesperson of Nepal Telecom, Rajesh Joshi, informed that concerned experts of the company conducted a thorough check and it was ascertained that no data had been stolen from the server.
The statement issued by Nepal Telecom mentions that the company has been utilising various cybersecurity measures to protect the data of its subscribers and will do so in the coming days too. It added that the company is committed to protecting the data of its subscribers.
