Ninth National Games: Gold for Bagmati and APF in cycling

In the ninth national sports competition held in Pokhara, the capital city of Gandaki province, APF has won one gold medal each in the 'cross country' category of cycling for women from Bagmati province and for men.

Bagmati's Laxmi Magar won the gold medal by completing the distance of 15 kilometers in 1 hour 9 minutes 48 seconds in the women's cross country category final at Raniwan in Pokhara.

Usha Khanal of the Nepali Army crossed the prescribed distance in 1 hour 12 minutes 39 seconds and won the silver medal, while Humi Budhamgar of the APF completed the target in 1 hour 20 minutes 04 seconds and won the bronze medal.

In the men's cross country cycling final, APF won gold and bronze, Nepal Army won silver. Suraj Rana of APF managed to win the gold medal by completing the 19 km distance in one hour nine minutes 38 seconds. Army's Himal Tamata won the silver medal by covering the distance in one hour, 11 minutes and 43 seconds. Likewise, APF's Laxman Malla won the bronze medal by crossing the distance in one hour, 13 minutes and 25 seconds.

In cycling, 10 teams from seven provinces and three departments are participating. In cycling, downhill and cross-country categories are over. The 'Road Race Individual Time Trial' and 'Road Race Mass Start' categories remain. In cycling, there will be competition for eight gold, silver and bronze medals for men and women in four different categories.

Games under the ninth national sports are being held in eight districts of Gandaki province. 36 games will be conducted in the tournament.
