Domestic flights affected due to low visibility

Domestic flights have been affected due to low visibility incurring from thick fog in Terai-Madhes.

According to the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), flights were affected due to insufficient visibility at the airports except Bhadrapur, Pokhara, Dhangadi, Surkhet and Lumlingtar.

TIA Spokesperson Teknath Sitaula said that domestic flights could be affected in airports in Terai areas for few more days due to low visibility. Buddha Air's Information Officer Dipendra Kumar Karna shared that flights in majority of airports in Terai were affected since today morning due to low visibility.

Some airports are expected to be in operative after 12:00 pm, he said, adding that passengers have been facing problems to reach their destination due to his.

There are around 300 domestic flights on a daily basis. Buddha Air alone operates the highest number of flights in a day which is around 150 flights followed by Yeti Airlines with 58 flights.

Altogether 20 air operator companies including 11 helicopter companies have been conducting domestic flights in present.

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology said that some places in Terai belt have been experiencing foggy weather today while majority of the places in hilly areas were are cloudy.

Hilly areas in Gandaki, Lumbini, Province No 1 and Bagmati Province will be partially cloudy while weather will remain generally fair in remaining provinces.

Kathmandu Valley's maximum temperature was 19 degree Celsius and minimum temper 7.6 degree Celsius.
