Eight vultures released in wild

Eight vultures reared at the Vulture Breeding Center in Chitwan National Park have been released into the wild today. The vultures grown here and kept at the Jatayu Restaurant Conservation Center in Pithauli, Nawalparasi 18 months ago were released.

Director-General of the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Ram Chandra Kandel released the vulture in nature. Deputy Chief of Kawasoti Municipality Prem Shankar Mardania, Chair of the Intermediate Zone Management Committee of the park Prakash Dhungana, Chief Conservation Officer Haribhadra Acharya, and Ganapati Shashi Kumar Karki of Khadgadal Battalion were present on the occasion.

According to Chief Conservation Officer Acharya, the vultures were released into the wild after being kept in the cage for some time in Pithauli. Earlier, six female vultures were released in 2017, three females and two males in 2018, and four females and three males in 2019.

Director-General Kandel said the endangered species of vultures have been conserved and raised and released into the wild in order to increase the number of vultures.

Currently, vultures are being protected through Jatayu Restaurant in Dang, Kailali, and Koshi Tappu along with Nawalparasi. Vultures have been reared in Kasara since 2008. At present, there are 15 male and 15 female vultures in Kasara.
