The Bhimdatta Highway, which connects seven hilly districts in the far west, had not been operational since Wednesday morning due to snowfall. According to the District Police Office, Doti, the highway was reopened after a bulldozer of the Road Division Office cleared the snow.
Dozens of vehicles and passengers were stranded in the middle of the highway on Wednesday morning due to heavy snowfall at Gaira, Sahunkharka and Hagulte Lake. According to the police, snowfall is continuing in the upper Lekali area of the hilly district.
Similarly, snow has been falling in the Khaptad area, a major tourist destination of the far west, since last night. With the snowfall, the area has suddenly become much colder. It is said that the snow is forcing the citizens to stay inside their houses. According to the Nepal Army's Gulma, there is about one foot of snow.
Due to the snowfall, the temperature has reached minus five degrees. According to the locals, the snowfall in Khaptad has caused extreme cold in Kudasain, Jigrana, Balma, Baglek, Goladeu and other areas of the region. Citizens are not able to go out of their houses due to heavy snowfall. Jahar Singh Khawas, a resident of KISingh village informed that the farmers are happy saying that the wheat cultivation in Lekali area will prosper after the snowfall.
