The 31st Central Annual General Meeting of the Nepal Mountaineering Association scheduled for today has been postponed. The general meeting of the association was adjourned at the last minute this morning following a letter from the District Administration Office, Kathmandu.

Former President of the association, Zimba Jangbu Sherpa and Dr Hari Prasad Shrestha, as well as current central members Tulasi Gurung and Pasang Tendi Sherpa had requested the district office to postpone the general meeting.

The general assembly had set a target of amending the constitution to hold the election on June 10 and 11 2022.

However, a petition was filed in the district office stating that the general meeting was illegal.

Chairman of the Nepal Mountaineering Association, Shantabir Lama, said that he was saddened that the general assembly had to be postponed even after final preparations.

Due to this, the association has stated that it has not been able to conduct the very important training related to the climbing which should be held regularly along with the upcoming annual program and budget of the association.

Chairman Lama said that the Nepal Mountaineering Association was always ready to reach consensus and cooperation with the stakeholders.
