Police have opened the office of the managing director of Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) that had been padlocked by the corporation’s employees. The employees had padlocked the office in protest against the plan to transform the corporation into a public limited company.
The managing director’s office had been padlocked by the three workers’ unions in the corporation.
The management committee of Nepal Airlines Corporation had recently drafted a management plan and guidelines to convert the corporation into a public limited company and forwarded it to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.
Police were deployed to open the office after the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation made a request to the Ministry of Home Affairs to do so. However, the employees are still protesting stating that the police had used force to open the office.
