Pokhara Tourism Council has urged all sectors to seek alternative to banda (general shutdown) at a time when tourism industry has suffered worst due to the Covid-19.

It requested the political parties to create tourism-friendly atmosphere because the political instability and shutdown and strikes would impact adversely to entire economic activities of the country.

Issuing a press statement today, Council Chairman Gopi Bahadur Bhattarai said, "The general shutdown has badly affected the entrepreneurs and especially daily wage earners. Such activities must come to an end."

He further reminded that political parties could help create atmosphere where people's livelihood would be enhanced and national economy bolstered.

Similarly, the Council objected to the provision of keeping foreign tourists in quarantine for 10 days. The provision needs to be relaxed considering the adverse situation facing the tourism industry, it argued.

Meanwhile, Trekking Equipment Shop Association (TESA) Pokhara has elected new working committee from its 13th convention. Narayan Sapkota was elected the chairperson for two years.

At the convention, President of Finance and Development Committee of Gandaki Province, Deepak Koirala viewed that the political events unfolding in the recent time would impact negatively to the industrial sector.

Demand of easing monitory policy was also made on the occasion. The monetary policy should be hassle-free to small and midscale entrepreneurs.
