Drug addiction has been on the rise in Kanchanpur recently. Looking at the statistics of the police, it has been found that school students are also involved in this addiction.
According to the District Police Office, Kanchanpur, the number of drug users has been increasing in the last three years. Spokesperson of the District Police Office, Deputy Superintendent of Police Chakra Shah said that youths in the age group of 17 to 30 years are addicted to drugs.
"After being found in drugs time and time again, we are prosecuting many of them." "Parents also have a key role to play in protecting their children from drug addiction," he said.
"Many smugglers from India are doing business here." Spokesperson Shah said, "Indians involved in this business have also been jailed." Police are conducting various awareness programs for drug control here.
According to the police, 87 drug users were arrested in the fiscal year 2076-77 BS. There are seven Indian citizens in it. During the same period, police seized 21 kg 25 gms of cannabis, 375 tablets of Nitravet and 269 gms of heroin.
Similarly, according to the police statistics, the number of people arrested on the charge of drug trafficking had increased to 230 in the last fiscal year 2077/78 BS. In addition, 141 cases were filed on various drug charges.
Cases have been registered against 99 people involved in drug trafficking and consumption in the first eight months of the current fiscal year. Police said that 165 people involved in the business have been arrested.
According to the police, 1274 grams of Nitrate, 276 grams of spam, 164 grams of exogenic, 265.23 grams of heroin, and 32 grams of cannabis were seized during the period. Police said that most of the incidents involved in various criminal activities have been reported to have reduced the number of incidents.
