Bangladesh to buy 700MW of electricity from Nepal

The government of Bangladesh has decided to buy electricity from Nepal. The Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources of Bangladesh has stated it will buy 700 megawatts of electricity from Nepal.

The Bangladeshi ministry has decided to buy the said quantum of energy from Nepal so as to be able to fulfil the energy demand of the country in the future.

State Minister of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources of Bangladesh, Nasrul Hamid, said that the Bangladeshi government will soon sign an agreement with the Nepali government to purchase the above-mentioned quantum of electricity while interacting with the media in Bangladesh on Sunday.

Hamid also mentioned that Bangladesh was also willing to invest in the hydropower sector of Nepal.
