Bhimad Women Unite for Self-Dependency

Women from Bhimad Municipality -6 in Tanahu district have been united for self-dependency with income generation.

With the operation of washing powder industry by Matri Shishu Kalyan Mothers' Group, the women associated with the group have begun income generation so that they would be self-dependent.

Group Secretary Sita Subedi said the washing powder industry has been operated with an objective of making women self-reliant through income generation. She mentioned, "We run an industry that produces detergent powder. Women, once fully engaged in household chores, are working here. They earn money now."

The Deputy-Mayor Prosperity Fund of the Bhimad Municipality has helped for running the washing powder industry, according to Subedi.

A total of Rs 400 thousand was provided through the Fund for the establishment of the industry while Rs 385,000 was managed with cost sharing.

Similarly, the additional amount was collected from 36 members of the Group. The industry has already started producing the powder used for washing clothes.

The group formed in 2053 BS has supported different activities like construction of trail to different shrines and temples, resting places and temple.

Deputy-Mayor Sharada Khanal said the Deputy-Mayor Prosperity Fund was established with an objective of connecting every municipal dweller with entrepreneurship.

Likewise, Mayor Dadhiram Subedi shared that the industry established by the women, which is an inspiring initiative to promote entrepreneurship and create jobs at local-level.
