Five years after the implementation of the Prime Minister's Agriculture Modernization Project in Jumla, the Apple Superzone program will be implemented at all eight local levels. According to Ganga Pokhrel, acting head of the project unit Jumla, the program was previously conducted at four local levels.
It was operating in Tatopani, Guthichaur, and Patarasi villages including Chandannath municipality. Now, the program will be implemented in Sija Hima, Kanakasundari and Tila villages. Letters have been received for implementation in the remaining wards 1, 2, 3 of Patarasi and 1 and 2 of Guthichaur. A letter signed by Baikuntha Adhikari, director of the project implementation unit Khumlatar, has reached the office, said Pokhrel.
According to the letter, the apple superzone project has begun in Jumla as per the letter of the project task force and the recommendation of the district project implementation and monitoring committee. Project Director Adhikari informed that the program has been extended to the missing areas including Tila, Hima, Sinja, and Kanakasundari of Jumla based on the demand and technical report from the local levels.
He said that the program will be fully implemented from the next fiscal year except for some activities due to the late decision. The idea of the project is to develop a modern, commercial, sustainable, and self-reliant agricultural sector transformed from agro-based economy to an agro-industry. Accordingly, the Apple Superzone Project Implementation Unit is being set up in Jumla.
According to the office, beans superzone program has also been implemented in Tila village municipality. The program has been implemented in wards 1 and 2 of the village municipality to increase the production and marketing of beans. After the establishment of the super zone, agricultural technology, high-tech nursery, fencing, irrigation, plant subsidy, and other works are being carried out, according to the office.
