KATHMANDU: The stock market has increased on the first day of the year. With the New Year, the NEPSE index has increased by 27.14 to stand at 2689.22 points.
On the first day of the year, 21,141,047 shares of 320 different companies were bought and sold 69,364 times, resulting in a turnover of Rs 8.54 billion 4357,887.
Mutual funds and trade saw a decline of 0.07 percent and 0.64 percent, respectively, while all other sub-indices increased. The development bank group increased the most by 2.46 percent and the investment group by 2.71 percent. Banking increased by 0.48 percent, finance by 1.59 percent, hotels and tourism by 1.99 percent, hydropower by 1.47 percent, life insurance by 0.81 percent, production and processing by 1.22 percent, microfinance by 0.60 percent and non-life insurance by 1.07 percent.
In today’s trading, the share prices of Corporate Development Bank Limited, Green Development Bank Limited and Saptakoshi Development Bank Limited have entered a positive circuit. The share price of Balefi Hydropower Limited has decreased the most by 9.99 percent.
Based on the transaction amount and number of shares, the highest number of shares of Balefi Hydropower Limited worth Rs 2.29 billion 93 thousand 142 were bought and sold today.
